    Use of technology in the daily life of the Colombian economy

    Summary

    There are 29m Internet users in Colombia, however the use of digital banking is still low but growing. There are access gaps between rural and urban and income levels. In businesses, there is a significant gap in the use of ICTs by the size of the business, smaller business argue they don’t find a benefit in them.

    • Only 8% of Internet users use financial services through this platform. The acceptability of digital payments is low. Only 4% of stores accept card payments.
    • Micro establishments are lagging behind the larger ones in several respects, carry out fewer digital transactions and are unaware of the importance of the use of ICT tools.
    • Large companies carry out more innovation processes than small companies. Only 16% of small companies have done some type of tecnological employee training in the last 12 months.
