Spain | Long series of GVA and regional employment by sector, 1955-2022
This Working Paper provides a concise overview of the recent enhancements to the sector module within the RegData FEDEA-BBVA database.
Key points
- Key points:
- Within this module, the regional data on employment (both employed and wage earners), gross value added (GVA) at current and constant prices, and compensation of employees from RegData's central module are disaggregated by sector. Additionally, regional GVA deflators are formulated for each sector, employing a classification into six primary productive branches, with the potential for further expansion to eight.
- The time series spans from 1955 to 2022, and in recent years, the data supplied by RegData has closely aligned with the latest official series released by INE (the Spanish National Statistics Institute).
- In most instances, the update primarily involves integrating the most recent data from INE's Regional Accounts (2023) into the series, requiring minimal manipulation.
- It is worth noting an exception in the case of GVA series at constant prices, as INE has not provided this data for a few years, opting instead for chained volume indices.
