Spain | Long series of GVA and regional employment by sector, 1955-2021
This Working Paper briefly describes the latest update of the sectoral module of the RegData FEDEA-BBVA database (see de la Fuente 2017 and 2023 and de la Fuente and Ruiz Aguirre, 2020).
Key points
- Key points:
- This module disaggregates by sector the regional series of employment (employed and salaried), GVA at current and constant prices and employee compensation from the RegData core module.
- Furthermore, regional GVA deflators are also constructed for each sector, working with a disaggregation in six large branches of production (tentatively extendable to eight).
- The series begins in 1955 and runs through 2021. In recent years, the data provided by RegData are in line with the latest official series published by INE.
- These series are linked by the procedure developed in de la Fuente (2014) with the BBVA Foundation's historical series (1999) and other sources in order to obtain homogeneous linked series that extend backward as much as possible.
