    Document number 20/15

Spain | Evolution of autonomous community financing under the common system, 2002-2018

    Summary

This Working Paper establishes homogenized series of regional financing, based on homogeneous competencies and fiscal effort, between 2002 and 2018.

    Key points

    • Key points:
    • It also presents additional series of financing by cash, financing for competencies only applicable in certain regions and aid implicit in the extraordinary liquidity mechanisms applicable to autonomous communities.
    • Furthermore, it compiles other aggregates of interest, which serve to relativize regional financing, including the regionally adjusted population.
    • These series are used to illustrate some interesting features of the evolution of regional aggregate financing and of the relative position of the different autonomous communities in terms of financing per unit of need.
    • The paper includes two Excel sheets containing the data, one organized by region and the other by variable.
