Spain: balance of payments May 2014

The 12-month accumulated current account surplus fell again in May, leaving the balance at equilibrium. In the medium-term, the Spanish economy needs to return to a current account surplus path in order to reduce its external debt. Capital movements in May were large with a distinct behavior of residents (net capital outflows) and non-residents (net capital inflows).
