Spain | 4Q2023 Quarterly Labor Market Observatory

In this new issue of the OTMT, we analyze the evolution of the labor market up the fourth quarter of 2023. We take stock of the evolution of the main aggregate indicators to, a follow-up of the Labor Reform of 2021, voluntary resignations and quits, and young people according to the nationality of their parents.

Key points

  • Key points:
  • Job creation continued in the fourth quarter of 2023, but at a slower pace than in previous quarters.
  • The reduction in the temporary employment rate slowed in 2023 as a result of the drop in conversions of temporary contracts to permanent contracts.
  • The number of terminations due to voluntary departure grew, but since 2022, ordinary permanent contracts have become the majority type of contract among terminations due to resignation or voluntary departure.
  • Early school dropout rates and the percentage of NEET youth among the children of immigrants exceed those of young people with native parents.
