Spain | 1Q2023 Quarterly Labour Market Observatory
We analyse the evolution of the labour market until May 2023 in this edition of OTMT. We take stock of the evolution of the main aggregate indicators and focus on the evolution of employment and effective working hours and gender differences in occupations and working hours.
Key points
- Key points:
- The Spanish economy is once again creating jobs strongly, although working hours are not following the same rate of growth.
- The main reason why actual working hours have behaved differently from employment in recent years is the increase in the number of employed persons not working.
- The temporary employment rate in the private sector fell by 10 pp in 2022, while that in the public sector remained unchanged.
- The gender gap in occupation and working hours have narrowed in recent years, after a decade of stagnation.
