Peru | Tracking consumption with real-time data in January 2025
Summary
The Big Data Private Consumption Index recorded a 9.3% yoy growth in January, accelerating compared to December and November. The increase in household spending occurred in a context where the labor market maintained a strong performance throughout the last quarter of 2024.
Key points
- Key points:
- In addition to the labor market, inflation has remained low and stable, reducing the loss of household purchasing power and supporting conditions for financial planning.
- By spending components, an acceleration in the year-over-year growth of expenditures on Food, Education, and Health was observed. Only Tourism and Household Goods expenditures shifted from growth rates to year-over-year contractions in January.
- As a result, the Private Consumption Indicator had a strong start to the first quarter of the year (January), with growth similar to that recorded in the previous two quarters.
