Peru | Tracking consumption and investment with real-time data in June 2024
Summary
The Big Data Consumption Index accelerated in June, in an environment of lower inflation and interest rates, and the initiation of payments for provisional fund withdrawals. On the other hand, the Big Data Investment Indicator accentuated its contraction.
Key points
- Key points:
- The consumption indicator suggests a consolidation in the recovery of household spending so far this year. The improvement in formal employment and wages, along with the initiation of provisional fund withdrawals, supported the acceleration in the growth of the indicator in June.
- By expenditure components, a widespread improvement was observed, with the exception of those related to tourism. Among the ones that stood out the most were those related to goods and services for the home and in fashion and beauty.
- The contraction of the Index occurred in an environment where public investment continued to grow, which does not suggest that it is the private sector that is weakening.
