Peru | Going forward it will be more difficult
During the last few months, the GDP has shown a performance. This evolution is remarkable, given the drag generated by political noise. However, persistent political tensions and deteriorating confidence can weigh on the dynamism of the economy and make 2022 an economically disappointing year.
Key points
- Key points:
- In recent months, economic activity has shown a better performance than expected three months ago
- This more favorable evolution is mainly explained by three factors: (i) relative containment of the pandemic (the “third wave” did not materialize), (ii) stimulus policies, and (ii) availability of liquidity from families (AFPs and CTS withdrawals)
- Going forward, it will be more difficult to maintain economic dynamism, due to less favorable external conditions and deterioration of confidence.
