Despite these important flows, inflation and, mainly, the appreciation of the Mexican peso against the US dollar have led to households in Mexico receiving 12.6% fewer remittances in real terms in August.

- Mexico received 5,563 million dollars (md) in remittances in the month of August (+8.6%), maintaining a streak of 40 consecutive months with growth, which began in May 2020.
- In each of the last 4 months, remittances have exceeded 5,500 million dollars per month.
- Immigration encounters in the United States are at their highest level; in the month of August, 304,000 apprehensions and inadmissibles were recorded.
- During the first eight months of 2023, almost 2 million immigration encounters have already been registered, highlighting a significant increase in people traveling in family units.
- From January to August 2023, 503,000 migratory encounters with the Mexican population were registered. Following in order of importance are the migrant population from Venezuela (213,000), Honduras (147,000), Guatemala (142,000) and Haiti (127,000). Much of this migratory flow crosses Mexican territory to reach the United States.
