Mexico | GDP in the first half of the year: weak and incomplete recovery continues
Last week the preliminary GDP growth data for the second quarter of this year was released, which was 1% compared to the previous quarter, which implies that the economy expanded at an annualized rate of around 4%
Key points
- Key points:
- Comparing the first half of this year to the same period last year, the economy grew 1.7%
- This growth is explained by the fact that the bottlenecks in the global value chains have been relaxing, favoring the recovery of industrial production
- However, we should not assess the process of recovery of the economy only by the data of a quarter. The reality is that the country's economy continues to show significant levels of slack and that the recovery continues to be anemic and incomplete
