    Financial inclusion has four pillars, one of them has to do with “access”, generally it is seen as the supply of financial products; therefore, this note presents information on the coverage of traditional mechanisms that the population has to access multiple banking.

    • In 2021, Mexico has ATMs coverage (62.3 per 100,000 adults) similar to the average of the European Union (62.7) and OECD countries (63.4)
    • In 2021, Mexico was the top 43 country with the highest ATM coverage and in 84th position in commercial bank branch coverage
    • In ten years (from 2014 to 2024), on average each federal entity has reduced 2.5 branches per 100,000 adults and has increased 30.7 ATMs per 100,000 adults.
    • In March 2024, 77.3% of municipalities had at least one branch, ATM or point-of-sale terminal, and 98.1% of Mexico's population was located there.
    • In March 2024, BBVA México was the only branch in the municipality of 0.4% of Mexico's population (472,526 people).
