Mexico | Domestic demand does not react: it remains weak

    Summary

The U.S. economy is beginning a strong expansionary cycle. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) this week adjusted its growth forecast for this country to 6.4% for 2021 and there are private analysts who forecast even higher rates.

    Key points

    • Key points:
    • The persistent weaknesses in domestic demand will mean that even with the greater dynamism of the external sector, the country will barely recover the growth levels - low and insufficient - that it had in 2018
    • Where do the internal weaknesses lie? Both in investment and consumption
