Mexico Banking Outlook. Second half 2022
Summary
The banking system’s capital and liquidity levels remain above regulatory minima. Financing to the private sector regains its dynamism. All the portafolios that make up commercial banking credit to the non-financial private sector have achieved growth in real terms.
Key points
- Key points:
- Business credit has shown real growth, but it has not yet achieved a recovery of the balances prior to the pandemic.
- The amount and number of card transactions have increased compared to their pre-pandemic levels, although the average amounts remain below that level.
- The excess of liquid resources accumulated during the pandemic is expected to fade in the coming quarters.
- A lower appetite for domestic assets by foreign investors along with a fall in domestic savings, constitute a vulnerability to the total financing of the economy in the medium term.
