Macroeconomic framework and credit cycle in Europe

    Summary

The current economic context is affecting both the demand and the supply of credit in Europe. Corporate size is negatively related to reliance on bank credit. Legacy issues also affect credit conditions, in particular in peripheral countries. Alternative finance must be promoted, but it is, in any case, a long term process.
