    Consumption Outlook. First semester 2012

    Summary

Growth in Spain and Europe is lagging behind that of the global economy. Weak fundamentals mean that consumption, especially of durable goods, is expected to decline. Because of lingering financial stress, high default rates, and, in particular, the expectation of weak demand, consumer credit is not likely to rise in the short term.
