    Colombia | Weekly update BBVA Tracker: Consumption. 27 January, 2021.

    Summary

    During January (1-25), total consumption fell 15% YoY, falling back to declines similar to those recorded in August, a month with a low grade of openness. Meanwhile, the goods group has a growth of 0.8% YoY in the same period while the services group is the most affected with falls close to 38% YoY.

    • Clothing spending reached a 49% YoY decline in January. Online shopping remains in positive territory.
    • Reduced mobility restrictions in Barranquilla and Cartagena allowed this cities that consumption accelerated in January compared to December.
    • In Medellin, with the relaxation of mobility restrictions during the weekend, a recovery was observed in most expenditure groups, but especially in fuel.
