Colombia | Weekly update BBVA Tracker: Consumption. 10 February, 2021.

    Summary

Consumption starts with a good dynamic in the first days of February and cuts January's drop to 1.6% in annual terms. This was driven by a rebound in the services sectors, which were reactivated thanks to fewer mobility restrictions during the month.

    Key points

    • Key points:
    • Spending on restaurants, fuel and transportation rebounded in the last week, reaching levels similar to those recorded in December.
    • Clothing spending has already recovered about 8pp so far in February compared to January. The number of transactions carried out in online channels is growing.
    • The consumption gap between large cities closes in February. Pereira and Barranquilla lead the recovery of consumption this month.
    • Consumption in Bogota recovers in February with the greater easing of mobility restrictions. Restaurants and clothing rebound strongly.
