Colombia | In June, the national unemployment rate was 10.3%.

The June 2024 national unemployment rate was 10.3%, up from 9.3% in June 2023. Seasonally adjusted, the rate was 10.7% and maintains a certain stability, as it has done since December 2023, after the strong rebound it showed between August and December of that year.

  • In annual terms, as of June 2024, employment decreased by 130 thousand jobs (-0.6%); a reduction that is largely due to the high base of comparison in June of last year, when employment was quite high.
  • Employment fell the most, in annual terms, in Public administration, health and education (172 thousand jobs) and in Real Estate (129 thousand jobs). The sectors that created the most jobs were Industry (153 thousand jobs), Information and communications (124 thousand jobs), Accommodation and food (85 thousand jobs) and Real estate activities (77 thousand jobs).
  • By occupational category, both non-wage and wage employment fell in annual terms and the informality rate, measured as the ratio of non-wage to employed persons, remained stable between June 2023 and June 2024 . Regionally, large cities created 50 thousand jobs and the rest of the cities destroyed 98 thousand jobs, as well as the countryside, which destroyed 82 thousand jobs.
