Colombia | Bi-weekly update BBVA Tracker: Consumption. 2 Sep, 2021
Consumption in August grew 11.2% compared to the same period in 2019, lower than the maximum observed since the beginning of the pandemic recorded last July (17.6%). In the month, a generalized lower dynamic was observed in the different consumption categories, although with greater emphasis on the goods groups.

- Spending in restaurants continues its positive trend. In August, it was 12.5% above its pre-pandemic level.
- Fuel spending had a better dynamic in the first part of August and closed the month 2.9% above its pre-pandemic level.
- In August, only in Bogota and Medellin did restaurant spending fall slightly below the pre-pandemic level, dropping 1.4% and 1.7%, respectively.
