    Big Data techniques used

Colombia | BBVA Economic Tracker Consumption

    Summary

In order to contribute to the analysis of the Colombian economy and take the pulse of the recovery, a project of high-frequency indicators was structured to measure the behaviour of the economy in real time, called the BBVA Economic Tracker. This first issue contains the section on tracking consumption

    Key points

    • Key points:
    • BBVA's data allows us to monitor the evolution of the key variables of the economy in real time and with a high level of granularity
    • Consumption in Colombia was most affected during the month of April but since then it has gradually recovered
    • The restaurant, fuel and transport sectors are already showing signs of recovery
    • The role of regional governments has been key in the economic reactivation and this is evident in the data per city
    • Spending on clothing is beginning to show greater dynamism, especially in cities that began their plans to reopen trade first
