Chile Flash: Activity data by sector anticipates Imacec at around 3.1% YoY for May
Summary
Retail sales expanded 4.9% YoY in May, above both our and market expectations (BBVAe: 1.1% YoY, Consensus: 1.5% YoY), explained principally by clothing and footwear and electronic items. Manufacturing increased by 1.2% YoY (BBVAe: 1.9% YoY), while mining production reached by 5.2% YoY. All in all, we estimate that monthly activity index (Imacec) grew around 3.1% YoY in the period, slightly above our preliminary expected growth range for the month (from 2.3% to 2.8% YoY).
