Argentina | Real-time consumption monitoring (Sep 25, 2020)
Summary
In spite of the poor behavior it had during the first days of September, consumption recovered more from goods than from services. We can see that our expense indicator is highly correlated with the level of economic activity in Argentina.
Key points
- Key points:
- Although it has followed the same trend as internationally, Argentina has not yet returned to pre-pandemic consumption levels.
- During the last week analyzed, consumption improved for some categories with a significant participation in total expenditures. The rest shows a weak dynamic.
- The official data referring to sales in supermarkets during July published this week ratify the increase captured by our real-time consumption indicator.
- The INDEC figures on economic activity confirm the high correlation between GDP and our consumption indicator.
