    Summary

    The card expenditures have shown a markedly contraction for the last three weeks. Some of the non-essential sectors continue to recover, while others, such as Food and beverages are showing slower improvements. We are adding e-commerce platforms consumption, realizing its growing prominence.

    • Card expenditures have contracted during August, falling back to April´s level, when the quarantine was in its strictest phase and was extended to the entire national territory.
    • Food and beverages consumption has been growing at a decreasing rate and is now in pre-pandemic levels. On the other hand, sectors like beauty and fashion (among other non-essential activities) continue the recovery phase.
    • We add, from now on, the consumption of the e-commerce platform to our total consumption indicator.
    • The lockdown has resulted in a change of habits that is leading a significant growth in electronic commerce (above 100%), compared to pre-pandemic situation.
