Matias Cabrera was an Economist in the Regulation and Public Policies unit at BBVA Research.Since January 2019 he moved to Regulation and Internal Control, in the Regulation unit.

Before that, he was a pre-doctoral researcher at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, focusing on topics such as bank regulation, systemic and sovereign risk. He presented his works at several academic Conferences. Additionally, he taught several courses in the same institution, e.g. Financial Economics, Bank Management and Introduction to Financial Accounting.

He obtained his BSc. in Economics from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina) in 2009. He also holds a MSc. in Business Administration and Quantitative Methods from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2012). Currently, he is finishing his doctoral dissertation in the same institution.
