Ernesto Valera is a Research Manager at BBVA Research Venezuela, with a focus on the collection, analysis, evaluation, and projection of key macroeconomic variables for the Venezuelan economy.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in economics from the Universidad Central de Venezuela and a Master’s in Economic Science from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello.

Previously, between 2009-2020, Ernesto Valera worked at the Central Bank of Venezuela with experience in macroeconomic accounts estimation, FX market analysis, and macroeconomic diagnostic at National Account Office and the Financial Programming Office.

He was part of the EMFI Group as a Macroeconomic Analyst for emerging markets, covering countries such as Angola, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, and Bolivia. Between 2023-2024, he led the Proprietary Data Team at BITA GmbH, building financial thematic databases for index development.
